Retained reflexes and learning

Some retained reflex motor patterns are retained in children and impact on current functioning. For example the cute little sword fighter pose children make in the first 6 months (see picture), can cause all sorts of difficulties if retained after around 6 months. Occupational therapists check reflexes as part of their assessment process.
